February 2014 Book Haul

Image
Well I didn't buy as many books and I only received 1 paper book in the mail to review in February so this haul post will not be as long as January's haul. First I will start with the book to review (the review will go live at the beginning of March) and then I will add the books that I bought. Colorworld by Rachel E. Kelly  Wen knows what love looks like. Since her mom died over a year ago, she’s seen it every day on her orphaned younger brother’s face. Wen’s made good on her promise to her mom that she’d take care of Ezra, even quitting her carefree party-girl ways to become a hard-working college student so she can provide for him.  Wen knows what love feels like, too. Because when she touches people, she feels what they do. "Uniquely perceptive" is what her mom called it, and Wen’s not going to argue; she doesn't know any different.  But an energy therapy study changes not only what Wen knows about her unusual gift; it also changes her. Now, ins

Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier Review

Gwyneth Shepherd's sophisticated, beautiful cousin Charlotte has been prepared her entire life for traveling through time. But unexpectedly, it is Gwyneth, who in the middle of class takes a sudden spin to a different era! Gwyneth must now unearth the mystery of why her mother would lie about her birth date to ward off suspicion about her ability, brush up on her history, and work with Gideon--the time traveler from a similarly gifted family that passes the gene through its male line, and whose presence becomes, in time, less insufferable and more essential. Together, Gwyneth and Gideon journey through time to discover who, in the 18th century and in contemporary London, they can trust. MY REVIEW I bought this book a month or 2 ago because I kept hearing great things about it and I made sure I bought the hardcover copy because I really liked it. I mean look at it.. Isn't it just so pretty? Ruby Red is part of the  The Ruby Red Trilogy by  Kerstin Gier . It was origi

Doyle Fitzgerald has been sent to Melbourne, Australia to hunt down a killer. What he doesn't expect to find is a circle of witches capable of controlling the elements and a sorceress determined to take that power for herself. While Kirby finds herself inexplicably drawn to Doyle, she fears to trust him because of the magic that lies in his soul. It quickly becomes evident that the reason behind the killings lies in Kirby's past--a past she has no wish to remember. Because Doyle isn't the only one with magic in his soul. Only her magic is capable of destroying the world. MY REVIEW This is not the best Paranormal Romance book I have read but not the worst either. I did enjoy it and it is well written but it isn't one that kept me reading late at night . I did keep me r

*I was given a free copy of this eBook for my honest review* When a brutal homophobic attack ended David Lloyd's career as a police officer, his life was changed forever. Five years later David is running his own private detective agency, where a missing person's case comes to his attention. Digging into the circumstances of her disappearance forces David to realize he has not dealt with what happened to him, and that he can no loner deal with his long-time partner's fear of being honest about their relationship. Solving the case might not only bring peace to a shattered family, but could finally put David's own demons to rest. MY REVIEW Ok I don't read mystery novels much these days but I was excited to review this one because so far I have been really liking Liz Strange's writing and this book did not disappoint me .   I just couldn't put this one down because the book was just so darn good.
