The Selection (The Selection #1) by Kiera Cass

Image
*I have purchased this book so was not required to post a review* For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon. But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks. Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined. MY THOUGHTS This book was  described  to me as The Bachelor and The Hunger Games... It isn't really like The Hunger Games other than

The Colony Cat Caper by Patricia Fry Review

Image
*I received this ecopy  in exchange for an honest review* Savannah Ivey, a veterinarian out on maternity leave; her aunt Margaret, the founder of the Hammond Cat Alliance; and Colbi Stanton, a reporter for the local newspaper take on a cat colony at an old, abandoned building. Odd activity around the place makes them wonder if it actually is vacant; some believe it’s occupied by something other-worldly. When a stranger comes to town and suggests the Alliance open the old building to a fund-raiser, everyone gets involved, including Rags, Savannah’s kleptomaniac cat. He finds something that day that stirs a lot of people—both law-abiding and crooks—into action. Are the feral cats and their caretakers in serious danger? What (or who) lurks inside the old building? What secrets does it hide? And who has the key that unlocks the mystery? MY THOUGHTS I have read all books 4 of the other books and I loved them and yes I did love this one as well. Just all all the others, I jus

June 2014 Book Haul

This month I didn't get many books to review and I didn't buy many books but that is ok because I really need to read the books I already own. First I will post the physical books I received to review and then I will post the books I bought. Remember the Time: Protecting Michael Jackson in His Final Days by  Bill Whitfield ,   Javon Beard ,   Tanner Colby Hounded by the tabloid media, driven from his self-made sanctuary at Neverland, Michael Jackson spent his final years moving from city to city, living with his three children in virtual seclusion—a futile attempt to escape a world that wouldn’t leave him alone. During that time, two men served as the singer’s personal security team: Bill Whitfield, a former cop and veteran of the security profession, and Javon Beard, a brash, untested rookie, both single fathers themselves. Stationed at his side nearly 24/7, their job was to see and hear everything that transpired, and to keep everyone else out, making them the only t

Prolongment by Grace Eyre Review

Image
*I received this ecopy in exchange for an honest review *  To fund their controversial Time research, B&E Labs patented a medical process called “Prolongment”, in which very old and very wealthy clients can pay to have their consciousness extended past death.  The process of Prolongment works by projecting the client’s consciousness (called a “replica mind”) into the future, past the point of death. When time is up, the replica mind is returned to the client, filling them with new memories. Postmortem memories. Memories of the future.  B&E Labs has many enemies. Now the city is now besieged with non-corporeal beings, more commonly known as ghosts. Some of these ghosts have a vengeance. B&E is under charges of corruption, and their services are seen as a threat to physical safety and the integrity of the space-time continuum.  Prolongment touches all inhabitants of the city, from a vigilante journalist to the victim of a haunting, from a wealthy client to a rog

I am a Master, all about control, and yet right now, facing great tragedy, I feel as if I have none. With my club and my relationships of the past in the spotlight, I find sanctuary in the one place I’ve promised I will never be again, but cannot seem to resist. The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

Image
*I have received a free copy of this book for my honest review* A man returns to the site of his childhood home where, years before, he knew a girl named Lettie Hempstock who showed him the most marvelous, dangerous, and outrageous things, but when he gets there he learns that nothing is as he remembered. Wondrous, imaginative, impossible, and at times deeply scary, The Ocean at the End of the Lane is classic Neil Gaiman and has captured the hearts of readers everywhere. MY THOUGHTS I haven't read much of Neil Gaiman's book but read Stardust and I have been wanting to read more of his books every since. I liked this book and I will most likely read it again in the future. It is well written and you can very well imagine all that is going on in this story. It only has about 178 pages or something like that so it was a great book to read while I was outside on the patio just relaxing and enjoying the nice weather.  I highly recommend this. I give this 4
