Reese
I’m done.
Getting ditched at the altar is nothing compared to being humiliated there in front of three hundred shocked guests. Apparently I’m no good at spotting the signs your man’s a cheating liar. So I set off solo on my honeymoon to Hawaii, where I realize I’ve got this life thing down just fine on my own.
Friendships and laughter? Yes.
Adventures? Absolutely.
But relationships? Hell no. Never again.
Knox
I’m a man of few words. My reputation as a moody prick is deserved, but only the handful of people who really know me see the man beneath the professional mask.
I’m a protector. A warrior. That part is true. But the world doesn’t get to see the rest of me. And women don’t seem to mind my gruff exterior—my bed’s always warm.
I’m content with life—loving it, even—or so I thought. But when I meet a beautiful pastry chef with a broken heart and a smile that softens me down to my soul, I realize I wasn’t really content at all before her.
I only wish I had the words to let her know.

EXCERPT:

Mrs. Eric Darnell. I’ve practiced saying it and writing it, but it still doesn’t feel real. There’s a part of me that’s still scared, but this is the right thing. After nine years together, where else can our relationship go?
At the sound of a sniffle, I turn to my maid of honor, my best friend Mandy, who’s already crying. I never knew her to be a softie. The ceremony hasn’t really even started yet. She takes a tissue out from around her bouquet and wipes the corners of her eyes.
“Before we begin the ceremony, let us pray,” the pastor says.
“Hang on,” Eric blurts out.
Did he just say hang on as our wedding ceremony was about to start? My heart skips several beats as I look around to see what’s going on. Is there a medical emergency? Why else would Eric go off script?
The pastor and I both stare at him as he closes his eyes and grimaces.
“I’m sorry,” he says, sighing as he opens his eyes and lets go of my hands.
As my hands drop to my sides, an icy shiver zips down my spine. He let go. I only asked him for one thing when we talked on the phone this morning, honoring the tradition of not seeing each other on our wedding day. Hold onto my hands the entire time.
The church is still, everyone seeming to hold their breath as they wait for Eric to speak. My heart races and my hands start to shake as I realize something’s not right here. There’s no medical emergency.
“Reese.” Eric’s tone is both apologetic and pleading. “I need to tell you something. I want to go into this marriage with a clean conscience.”
I swallow back the bile that rises in my throat. This can’t be happening. In all my worst-case scenarios about what could go wrong on my wedding day, I never imagined this.
I worried I’d be having a heavy period today. That I’d trip on my way down the aisle and face plant in front of everyone. Or that the last week of stress eating would catch up with me and my dress wouldn’t zip up.
But this? Never this.
Eric lets out a shaky breath and says, “Please forgive me. I did something so stupid.”
Mandy’s crying intensifies. I feel like I could pass out at any second.
“Uh…” the pastor looks between me and Eric. “Do you two want to step out for a moment?”
“What did you do?” I ask Eric, my voice nearly a whisper.
The sound and scent of the ocean has vanished. I can only feel my racing heart and a creeping sense of complete dread.
“So now it was stupid?” Mandy demands loudly. “Eight months together and you’re saying it was a mistake?”
The guests collectively gasp.
As it sets in, I’m too stunned to even breathe. Eric. Fucked. Mandy. A lot.
My bouquet falls to the ground, making a whooshing sound as it hits. My breathing is more of a pant now, an angry, breathy pant with a growl now surfacing.

He hasn’t met a beautiful, trustworthy woman like Bernadette in…forever. But once they give into their mutual desire, their worlds will never be the same. FEVER Excerpt

By Donna Grant

“Dragons are real.”
The words went through the small room of the restaurant reserved for special meetings like a pistol shot. Today’s meeting was that of the local cryptozoologists.
Keltan wanted to be anywhere but there. Yet, Ulrik had sent him halfway across Scotland to hear whatever Dr. Bernadette Davies had to say about her highly publicized talk about dragons.
Keltan might have been shocked at the sight of her. He’d expected some older woman in her sixties with gray hair, glasses, and at least two chins. Instead, he was met with a vision that actually had his mouth hanging open. Straight black hair parted to one side fell just past her chin that brought attention to her incredible cheek bones. Her large jade eyes met everyone with determination and a calmness that proclaimed she wholly believed everything she was going to talk about.
Her hunter green button-down shirt was willowy, molding tantalizing against her breasts. And the black pants the shirt was tucked into made his mouth water when he caught a glimpse of her perfect derriere.
Keltan had to bite back a groan when he saw the black stilettos she wore. He’d always been a sucker for a woman who wore heels.
But it was the first three words out of her mouth that made him sit up straight and pay attention. A jolt of dread and worry went through him so quick that his stomach roiled viciously.
“We, as cryptozoologists work tirelessly to prove that such creatures exist,” Bernadette continued. “Many of you know for certain that particular creatures you believe in are real. For me, it’s dragons.”
“Do you have proof?” someone asked.
Keltan didn’t look to the voice. He kept his gaze locked on Dr. Davies. Now he wished he hadn’t chosen a seat toward the back. If he’d sat closer, he wouldn’t have to look around the various heads to keep her in view as she walked back and forth.
There was no doubt of the confidence she exhibited. And while there was a chance she was one of the few off her rocker, Keltan didn’t think that was the case. As a Dragon King, he and his brethren at Dreagan had gone to great extremes to hide their true selves from humans.
But a few years ago, the Dark Fae had taken a video of the Dragon Kings in a skirmish with them. The Dark released that video to the world, and speculation about dragons soared overnight – and it had yet to diminish.
Now, humans looked to the sky constantly, making it harder and harder for the Kings to shift, even on the sixty thousand acres where they lived. The magical barrier surrounding Dreagan stopped numerous drones from mortals on a weekly basis trying to see if Dreagan was the home of dragons.
It made every one of the Kings wonder if it was wise to have chosen the double dragon as their logo as well as using the Celtic word for dragon as the name of their whisky.
Ryder, the one King who could create and work any electronic, was the one who used his hacking skills to wipe the video of them from everything. Yet, the curiosity of the humans had been woken. They wanted answers.

MY THOUGHTS

WOW!  Donna Grant does it again!  She wrote another book in the Dark Kings series that got me so hooked from the very beginning that I just couldn't put it down.

First off if you are new to this series I do suggest you don't read this one because it is book number 16.  Please start from the very beginning of the series so that it will be easier to follow.

I absolutely have been loving this series so far and yes I loved this book so very much.  I love the characters.

There is romance, suspense and a great battle.  If you are a fan of this book series you don't want to miss out reading this one.

I am giving this 5 out of 5.

About BLOOD NIGHT:

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Heather Graham comes a new story in her Krewe of Hunters series… Any member of the Krewe of Hunters is accustomed to the strange. And to conversing now and then with the dead. For Andre Rousseau and Cheyenne Donegal, an encounter with the deceased in a cemetery is certainly nothing new. But this year, Halloween is taking them across the pond—unofficially. Their experiences in life haven’t prepared them for what’s to come. Cheyenne’s distant cousin and dear friend Emily Donegal has called from London. Murder has come to her neighborhood, with bodies just outside Highgate Cemetery, drained of blood. The last victim was found at Emily’s doorstep, and evidence seems to be arising not just against her fiancĂ©, Eric, but against Emily, too. But Emily isn’t just afraid of the law—many in the great city are beginning to believe that the historic Vampire of Highgate is making himself known, aided and abetted by adherents. Some are even angry and frightened enough to believe they should take matters into their own hands. Andre and Cheyenne know they’re in for serious trouble when they arrive, and they soon come to realize that the trouble might be deadly not just for Emily and Eric, but for themselves as well. There’s help to be found in the beautiful and historic old cemetery. And as All Hallows Eve looms, they’ll be in a race against time, seeking the truth before the infamous vampire has a chance to strike again. **Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

BOOK TRAILER

EXCERPT:
Given the time hed spent in Salem, Massachusetts, and his time in New Orleans, Louisiana, Andre had met many a so-called psychic. Some seemed sincere, though he believed they simply had a talent for reading people and telling them things they might already know.
Most were shams.
Father Faith—or William Smith—fell into the latter grouping, Andre decided, though that quick assessment might not be fair. He knew witches in Salem who were really Wiccans, respecting their faith as a religion. He knew some who were all show for the tourists who came into their shops, fascinated and ready to drop their dollars.
It was the same in New Orleans. There were very good voodoo practitioners and priests and priestesses. But he knew those who were total con artists, too.
In both alternative religions, no harm was to be done to others. Harm done came back on the one who attempted it. Both Hollywood—and Doc Duvalier in Haiti—had given voodoo a very bad name.
The shop they approached was called Father Faith’s.
How original,Cheyenne deadpanned, and he shot her a smile as he opened the door.
Andre hadn’t needed to get inside to perform his initial assessment of the man. His first impression had come from the front window, which displayed modern vampire kits, bottles of potions made from garlic, guaranteed to drive away vampires and other forces of evil,” plus all manner of sterling jewelry, from crosses to earrings and more.
Father Faith seemed to be a focal point of the store himself. He stood talking to a customer and gesturing to the shelves that offered all sorts of arcane items: stakes, vials of garlic, oils, candles, herbs, talismans, tarot cards, books, and crosses in wood or silver of varying sizes and all price points.
As Inspector Adair had told them, William Smith was a tall man, dark-haired, and could easily have been cast as a vampire in any movie. His shoulders were broad, and his age was difficult to determine. But however old he might be—somewhere between forty-five to maybe even sixty—he was extremely fit, moved fluidly, and carried himself with an air of drama and confidence. His eyes were dark, his face was pale, and he wore a collar that seemed not quite priestly, but very close to it.
Cheyenne and Andre pretended interest in a rack of jewelry, a lot of it beautifully crafted. Father Faith might be a psychic, but he was also good at acquisitions.
MY THOUGHTS
I do love Heather Graham's book and I just loved this novella.

Like all 1,001 Dark Nights books, this one is a stand-alone and it was such a quick read.

The story is well written and got me hooked from the very first page.

I do highly recommend this.

I am giving this 5 out of 5 stars.

Hold on to Hope By A.L. Jackson #Review

*I received a eARC of this book for my honest review*

A best friends-to-lovers, stand-alone romance from New York Times Bestselling Author, A.L. Jackson . . .

Evan Bryant wasn't your typical hero.
But he was mine.
Broken by the worlds' standards, he was still the strongest boy I would ever know.
My best friend. The boy I'd given everything to. My heart, my body, and the promise of forever.
The day I'd needed him most, he walked away.
He left me shattered and questioning the love I'd thought we'd shared.

Three years later, I wasn't prepared for him to return to Gingham Lakes.
It wouldn't have mattered if he wasn't the most beautiful man I'd ever seen.
My fingers still would have ached to caress his skin.
My body still would have begged to get lost in his touch.
And my heart . . . it would have always sung his name.
But time changes things. With it, secrets that could ruin everything.
Can we find a way to love again, or have the fears of our past stolen the hope of our forever . . .

MY THOUGHTS

This book....WOW! What an emotional ride that was but it was so darn good. I just couldn't put it down.
There is so much I want to say about this book but it would mean spoilers so no I will not say anything other than if you are into books that put you in an emotional ride then I do recommend this book.

I give this 5 out of 5.

You can now purchase this at amazon.ca and amazon.com

Sojourner By Janalyn Voigt

On Tour with Prism Book Tours

Book Tour Grand Finale for
Sojourner
By Janalyn Voigt

We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops
you'll find snippets, as well as the link to each full post, below:

Launch - Note from the Author

...Mara is one of my favorite characters in Tales of Faeraven. Her keen mind and strength of will serve her in good stead. She doesn’t always make the best choices but eventually learns from her mistakes. In that respect, I’d like to take a leaf from her book.

—Janalyn

"The third book in the Tales of Faeraven is just as surprising as the first two. Just when you think things are okay the story pulls you left and right. Janalyn Voigt has such a way of crafting a fantasy world while weaving scripture into the story and making it relatable as always. . . . This book is centered around Mara and the secret of her life. . . . Overall, great addition to the series! Excited for DawnKing which is book four."

Heidi Reads... - Excerpt

“Don’t grillons prefer the bog? I’ve never seen one in the cove before this.”

Da and Hael always returned from cutting turf for the fire in the bog lands with tales of the strange creatures they found. Last summer, Da had brought home a grillon trapped in a jar. Mam had been none too pleased about that. He’d explained that he meant to take Mara along next time and wanted to warn her about the grillons. Mam made him promise to put an end to the grillon, but had it somehow escaped?

“Sometimes they stray. Don’t be afraid. I’ll search him out for you.”

He’d never gazed at her with such a soft look on his face before. What did it mean?

"...I quickly found I wanted to know more and couldn’t wait find out what happens! I was pleased with how this one turned out, and enjoyed seeing some of the secrets and things that weren’t covered but were hinted at, or missing in the first two books."

“What does a farmer know of romance?”

“I want nothing to do with it myself.” There. She had let him know how she felt.

“It seems we are agreed.”

Relief washed over her. He had come around so quickly. “I believe so.”

“That’s well then.” He nodded. “I will ask for you.”

"SoJourner starts with a new character, Mara, whom I think might just be one of my favorites so far. Her spunk and courage are endearing, as well as her deep, forgiving nature. Also new to the scene is Rand, the son of an enemy. His character really adds depth and a new dimension to the story. . . . Voigt once again delivers a novel of beautiful descriptions and a unique world all her own. While I felt the novel could have been fleshed out just a little more, the overall pace and plot were done excellently."

“Am I such a burden?”

Mam’s face softened. “Nay, child, never that. But can you not see that to wed our neighbor would keep you near?”

“Not marrying at all would leave me closer.”

“Foolishness.” Mam shook her head, her brow puckered. “You’ll want to marry.”

“Why?” Mara said in desperation. “Why can’t I stay here with you and Da?”

“Hush, child. T’is the way of things, and naught to be done about it. Fledglings fly the nest.”

Jorie Loves A Story - Spotlight

Splashes of Joy - Excerpt

Seated at a scarred table in the inn’s common room, Rand did his best to ignore the hostile stares from more than one pair of rounded eyes. He’d chosen a dark corner away from the lanthorn light in the hope of escaping notice. As a Kindren among the Elder, he’d expected to encounter suspicion. From the look of this crowd, he’d better keep watch to avoid being knifed in his bed. He couldn’t let anything happen to him, not with his father’s errand to carry out, although the thought of it made his stomach churn.

Uplifting Reads - Excerpt

Mam pushed into the chamber. “What’s this? Lingering abed?”

“My head aches.”

“Hmm…” Mam’s eyes narrowed. “I’ll brew an infusion. You’ll recover before Rohan arrives.”

“But Mam—”
“Stir yourself. He means to ask you to marry him.” She took herself off to make the remedy.

Mara swallowed against a lump in her throat. She’d never thought Mam would be happy to see her gone. There seemed nothing to do but drag herself from bed and endure today’s ordeal. Rohan wanted a wife, did he? Maybe she could persuade him to look elsewhere.

J. L. Mbewe - Excerpt

Mara felt the Kindren looking at her out of long eyes a strange hue between green and amber, deepened by the dim light in the far corner. He had a look she’d seen before, that of a care-worn sojourner. How far had he come, and what errand thrust him upon the mercies of the road?

The front door opened and the lanthorns suspended from overhead beams swung in the draft that fanned her face. Light flared across the stranger, turning his hair red-gold. She’d taken him for older than he now appeared, but guessing a Kindren’s age wasn’t easy. His kind hardly ever stopped at the inn these days, and she’d forgotten how intriguing she found them.

jypsylynn - Review

"...this remains a well written, inventive, entertaining and complex read with dynamic unforgettable characters and an underlying current of faith. I'm interested to see where things are going next. Janalyn Voigt has written a great addition to the series and I recommend for anyone who has enjoyed the books!"

"Sojourner is the third novel in the speculative/fantasy series The Tales of Faeraven. I think that the world-building in this series is second to none, with the culture and customs of this fictional land being solid and credible. I do like it that some of the characters and evens (at least in the early books) are based on actual Medieval European History. . . . So what did I enjoy about this book? Most of it really. I liked how alongside the political intrigue with a growing threat from an enemy army threatening the heroes, there was a hint of romance between Mara and the mysterious Rand."

A creature loomed black against the pewter sky. He knew the flapping sound its wings made from his early days at Pilaer. He’d loathed the giant raptor birds but had pretended to admire their savagery to please his father and avoid Draeg’s mockery. This one was a long way from its roost in the east of Elderland. The rider on its back provided an explanation for that but roused other questions. On what errand would his father send a welke rider? And did it have anything to do with his own?

Bookworm Lisa - Review

"This was my favorite book of the series so far. . . . I loved the interaction of the characters and the weaving in of the past, present, and future that is to come. This is story of finding love, hope, friendship, and honor in a time of war."

Jessica Belmont - Review

"Sojourner is the third book in the Faeraven series, and is my third read from Janalyn Voigt. These novels seem like they could be read as standalones, but the books are so good, I recommend checking them all out. . . . Overall, Sojourner is a fantastic read with beautiful descriptions and compelling characters. Recommended for sure!"

Remembrancy - Review

"Sojourner ends with a little more of a cliffhanger than the first two books, but my guess is Voigt is gearing readers up for something epic in the next installment. As this series continues, I become more invested in these characters and Voigt’s story world. And I really want Kai and Shae to get their HEA!"

Wishful Endings - Excerpt

“I’m certain you wouldn’t run away without cause.”

“I didn’t want to marry.” She hadn’t meant to blurt that out.

“And now you are on your way to Torindan? Something’s missing from your story.”

She shrugged. “There’s not much else.”

He touched her arm, and a tingle ran down her spine. “I’ve an idea you’ve left out the important part.”

Pause for Tales - Review

"I was happy to be back in this world. I enjoyed the continuation of this story and I think this one just might be my favorite as many loose ends of the previous story are tied up. The story arc is one that is keeping me glued to the pages and looking forward to the next in the series."

Rand had promised his mother he would never abase a maiden. He wanted Mara beyond reason but would not take her by force or persuasion and should not have stolen so much as a kiss from her.

Restraining the impulse to offer his hand to help her rise, he picked up his saddle bag. Touching her presented too much of a temptation. “It’s time to leave.”

"I eagerly anticipated reading SoJourner having recently enjoyed DawnSinger and WayFarer. Janalyn Voigt did not disappoint. . . . I look forward to reading book 4 in the Tales of Faeraven series. I highly recommend reading these books in order in order to fully understand the plot."

"I have to say that I've been quite enjoying Janalyn Voigt's Tales Of Faeraven series and SoJourner was no exception. Readers are once again transported right into the story by author Janalyn Voigt's vivid word-painting of her magical fantasy realm. So, if you are into epic journeys, sword fights, hidden identities, and flying horses, you really should check into this book and series..."
