Empire of the Vampire By Jay Kristoff (Review)

*I purchased this book with my own money*

 From holy cup comes holy light;

The faithful hand sets world aright.
And in the Seven Martyrs’ sight,
Mere man shall end this endless night.

It has been twenty-seven long years since the last sunrise. For nearly three decades, vampires have waged war against humanity; building their eternal empire even as they tear down our own. Now, only a few tiny sparks of light endure in a sea of darkness.

Gabriel de León is a silversaint: a member of a holy brotherhood dedicated to defending realm and church from the creatures of the night. But even the Silver Order could not stem the tide once daylight failed us, and now, only Gabriel remains.

Imprisoned by the very monsters he vowed to destroy, the last silversaint is forced to tell his story. A story of legendary battles and forbidden love, of faith lost and friendships won, of the Wars of the Blood and the Forever King and the quest for humanity’s last remaining hope:

The Holy Grail.

MY THOUGHTS

Firstly I have to say HOLY CRAP!!!!  What a book!!

I had received a long sampler (over 400 pages!) of the book and let me tell you it didn't take me long to read that because i was hooked. Of course, I had read that sampler in August and the book didn't come out until September so I have to wait to read the rest.  Unfortunately, I bought my copy through BookDepository and I had ordered the Uk/Australian edition so my copy came out a bit earlier than Canada but the shipping has been crazy slow so my copy arrived on October 19th.  I did have a few books on the go that needed to be reviewed so it took a while to finally actually finish reading  Empire of the Vampire.

Anyway, it was so worth the wait.  This book was amazeballs with all the blood, violence and gore.  This book just wanted I was missing in my life.   Finally, a fantastic vampire book that I just couldn't put down.

I just finished the book about 5 minutes ago and I already want book two in my hands NOW but we have to wait until it is finished being written.  I just hope we won't have to wait very long.

If you are looking for a good vampire book with swearing, gore and violence then I do very much recommend this book.  Just be warned that this book is a chunker.  It's over 700 pages.

I am giving this 5 out of 5 stars.

You can now purchase this online or in book stores near you.
